Dang It’s Hot!!! One “COOL” Mod That Will Make A Huge Difference!

We are now, mid July of 2021, in the thick of the hottest summer months! I am reading Facebook posts every day about how do you beat this heat? I know a lot of folks, here in Texas, that put their rigs up for the summer much like many do for the winter up north!

Because we live full time in our rig we can’t just put her up for the summer! And this year we won’t be heading north to escape the heat until mid August. That said, we did do something this for our JoyHauler that has made all of the difference in the world when it comes to keeping everything nice and cool and comfy inside! Following is our review of RV AirFlow Systems and the amazing difference it has made!

Back in the spring, with summer coming up, I finally got the RV AirFlow Systems for my Grand Design Momentum 399TH! I originally heard about it from Chad Florian with the Changing Lanes YouTube channel and then wound up crossing paths, while camping, with owners Richard and Joanne Stark!

I added the system in all 3 of our AC units and found the install remarkably simple thanks to the Changing Lanes video. I am not a gifted DIY guy so if I can do it … you can too! As far as results are concerned my immediate impression was wow!!! What an incredible difference it makes. I don’t have any equipment to measure specifics … you can watch the Changing Lanes video for that! But, a couple of anecdotal observations are clear.

  1. As I sit in our office working or on my couch watching TV, I can feel a significant difference in the air flow coming from the ceiling.
  2. I have a habit at night, when sleeping, of turning on the air conditioner in the main room to cool down the bedroom just a little. With the racetrack vent on my side of the bed pointed right at me, in the past, I haven’t been able to feel any discernible air flow. With the new RV AirFlow System installed I just laid down in the bed to test for a difference and the air is blowing on me! Not a just a trickle of air but blowing! I now have to close that vent just a little to keep from getting too cold at night!
  3. During the heat of the day we are now able to set our thermostats at a much higher temperature and accomplish our desired results! That means a lower electric bill, less stress on the AC units and a super cool living and working space!

A couple of notes regarding the use of RV AirFlow Systems ..

  • The way we get the most from our RV Airflow System during the day is as follows. We set the main AC unit at 78° while we set the bedroom and garage thermostats at 82°. We also black out the bedroom by closing the blackout curtain, closing the doors to the bathroom as well as the door to the bedroom itself. The main AC carries the bulk of the load for the hottest room in the rig, the main room, while also supplying a good amount of air to both the bedroom and the garage/office. If it gets too warm in the garage, the unit in there kicks on and cools things down. Because I work in there every day I can tell you that it seldom has to kick in!
  • Also, every time someone posts on social media about RV AirFlow Systems, people feel the need to jump on and point out that they “did it themselves for $10 worth of materials and they get the same results! Be sure and check out my DIY YouTube video of how you can also do it yourself!” Ok … I am glad that you are creative enough to have found a cheaper solution but here’s the thing! Since the DIY units mimic the original prototype, before significant improvements were engineered, I guarantee you the DIY doesn’t come close to delivering the same results of the professionally designed RV AirFlow System!
  • Here are a couple of YouTube videos to learn more! How The RV Airflow System Works and How To Install the RV AirFlow System!

If you haven’t figured it out I am a huge supporter of this product, the difference it makes in our rig and of the RV AirFlow Systems product! I am also a big supporter of Richard and Joanne Stark! Besides being brilliant innovators they are just plain good people!

Joanne and Richard Stark

Thank you so much Richard and Joanne for your dedication and hard work in creating a game changing product!!! The industry needs more innovators like you two! Do you happen to have any ideas for better tank sensors???
